PLAYSaFE Wet-pour surfacing Systems

Overview

This page provides a technical reference index of wet-pour surfacing materials used within PLAYSaFE® wet-pour surfacing systems.

The materials listed below are system components, not standalone products. Each material must be specified and installed as part of a compliant wet-pour system build-up in accordance with the relevant system specification and applicable standards.

Wet-pour surfacing materials used within PLAYSaFE® systems are manufactured from recycled rubber materials and finished using polyurethane binder and coating technologies.

Wearing-layer materials are designed to provide controlled durability, resistance to environmental exposure, and consistent performance when installed as part of a defined wet-pour system. Material characteristics such as particle grading, coating stability, and chemical resistance are addressed within the relevant material data sheets and must be considered alongside system specifications.

SBR Rubber (Shock-Absorbing Base Material)

Black recycled SBR rubber material used exclusively in shock-absorbing base layers within wet-pour surfacing systems to achieve defined impact attenuation performance.

Typical technical considerations include:

  • Particle grading appropriate for base-layer compaction
  • Density and deformation characteristics
  • Energy absorption behaviour
  • Compatibility with polyurethane binder systems

Available documentation:

Coloured Rubber Granules (Wearing Layers)

Coloured rubber materials installed as the finished wearing layer in wet-pour surfacing systems, providing durability, slip resistance, and controlled surface thickness.

Typical technical considerations include:

  • Granule grading and uniformity
  • compatibility and mix ratios
  • UV exposure and colour stability
  • Surface finish and permeability

Available documentation:

Coloured Rubber Mulch (Wearing Layers)

Coloured SBR-based mulch materials used as an alternative textured wearing layer, offering defined permeability and compaction behaviour within wet-pour systems.

Typical technical considerations include:

  • Particle geometry and texture
  • Compaction behaviour
  • Water permeability
  • Binder selection and coverage rates

Available documentation:

Rubber & Stone Composite Materials

Composite materials combining rubber particles with natural stone aggregates, used in decorative or architectural wet-pour surfacing applications where permeability and visual integration are required.

Typical technical considerations include:

  • Rubber-to-stone ratios
  • Mechanical strength and flexibility
  • Binder system requirements
  • Substrate preparation compatibility
